Trataka kriya concepts and benefits

TRATAKA...
The word trataka means the continuous flow of thoughts.Trataka is the one among the sat-kriyas. There are six kriyas to cleanse our inner body mentioned in the Hath Yoga Pradipika, they are kapalabhati, neti, trataka, dhouti, nauli and bhasti.
Modern science and human inventions are leading our life towards very luxurious and competitive as well as. To be in this modern world we need to be very sharp brilliant, creative, skillful etc. but needless to say that we need to be relaxed also by all means. In this competitive world we need quality and quantity together, our only one aspect cannot lead us towards the goal. Trataka can help us to increase the efficiency to achieve the target. The present inventions of luxurious life increases our desires more and more, which leads towards mental tensions, anxiety, depression, frustrations etc. because we may not be able to fulfill our every desires accordingly.
Trataka comes under dharana, which is the sixth limb of Patanjali Astanga Yoga. It leads easily towards dhyana(Meditation). Meditation helps us to relax our mind and increase the creativity with more efficiency in our work. It can lead towards a purposeful life for the humanity. It is a very essential tool to remove the ignorance and lethargies and to direct us towards the knowledge towards the Light.Trataka is specially meant for cleansing our eyes and eye related parts also. Mind and eyes are related each other, all the tensions increases eye strain. Dr. Bates (A renounced doctor in Opthalmology) wrote in his book “Better Eyesight Without Glasses” “……..the problems of visions are far more intimately associated with the mind than is ordinarily supposed, and they can by no means be solved by putting concave, convex or astigmatic lenses before eyes”, again Dr. Bates says “the fact is that when the mind is at rest, nothing can tire the eyes; and when the mind is under a strain, nothing can rest them.Anything that rests the mind will benefit the eyes”. By practicing the trataka we can give relaxation to the eyes and as well as the mind also. It can develop our concentration, confident, and grasping power.
By practicing regularly of trataka can help us to develop from ekagra drishti to samagra drishti (pointed awareness to multidimensional awareness).
A complete expansion of mind and life.
